As we age, our skin needs a little extra help to stay soft and supple. Luckily mother nature has a few tricks up her sleeve to help us along. I personally, love to use home made masks and creams because I know that freshly prepared natural ingredients are more effective than derivatives of fruits and herbs that are preserved with scary carcinogenic ingredients.
Here is a recipe for a home made mask that's easily put together in less than a minute:
Ingredients: 1 ripe organic avocado 1 teaspoon organic raw / manuka honey 2 drops therapeutic grade frankincense essential oil
Mash up the avocado and add in the honey. Stir until you have a smooth paste and then add the frankincense essential oil. If you don't happen to have an avocado handy you could opt for avocado oil instead. Avocados are excellent natural source of vitamin A (retinol) which removes dead skin cells and helps skin to renew itself more quickly. The high content of B vitamins, vitamin E helps the skin to regulate oil production and eliminate free radicals. Avocados, like honey are also humectant, which means they attract and lock moisture into the skin. For an added immunity booster for your skin opt for manuka honey.
Frankincense is known for its anti-inflammatory properties and its ability to accelerate cell regeneration. It helps with healing and scaring and gives a boost to dry, damaged skin. Be sure to always use only 100% pure therapeutic grade essential oils, as oils of a lesser quality may irritate your skin or contain harmful chemicals that make them unsuitable for application directly on the skin.
