•    how green tea can improve your health
•    the power of affirmations
•    heal energy blockages with Jin Shin Jyutsu

And if despite your best intentions you have a "less than wonderful" day and feel like reaching for the chocolate, we have some guilt-free suggestions for you too.

5 Reasons To Kick Start Your Day With Green Tea

The results of clinical studies on Green Tea are so compelling, we found they deserved special mention. We hope they will encourage you to trade in your Latte for a healthier and equally tasty option.

1. Longevity – We're not promising you a green fountain of youth, but Green Tea is a huge source of antioxidants. And, as you know, those marvelous little things zap away the free radicals that make you age faster.

2. Lower Your Blood Sugar – Green Tea has been proven to lower the levels of blood sugar and increase metabolic rates. This is not just good news for diabetics but anyone who is looking to avoid obesity.

3. Lower Your Cholesterol – Clinical studies have shown that men who drink Green Tea are less likely to have elevated "bad" cholesterol levels than those who don't. Green Tea will lower your total cholesterol whilst raising your "good" cholesterol levels.

4. Prevent Cancer – The jury is still slightly out on whether Green Tea will actually prevent cancer. However, clinical studies have shown that women with ovarian cancer who drink at least one cup a day survive the disease longer than those who don't. Green Tea is also arguably beneficial for sufferers of colon cancer and other diseases of the digistive system.

5. Shield Your Liver - the polyphenols in Green Tea are said to form a shield around the liver, which will help protect it in its fight against toxins. You will, however, need to drink lots of it for this final benefit to kick in.

So what are you waiting for, start this healthy habit today and brew a pot to share with your family!

Positive AffirmationsEvery Day is A Perfect Day

We've all had bad mornings: you're late, someone ate the last bit of your favourite breakfast cereal and your coffee somehow got on the outfit you wanted to wear to that important meeting today.

You roll your eyes. "Why me? Why today?!!" The day already seems doomed to be a tough one.

On days that start like that, it's all too easy to forget that life is amazing and that our capacity to reach our full potential is endless. And besides, we're too busy rushing to get to where we need to be! But actually, where we need to be is right here in the present moment or the day that started with calamity may develop into a catastrophy.

We're not suggesting that you tell the world to stop the clocks while you retreat into your private prayer room and meditate until calm is restored in your mind. But you may want to try reading one of Louise Hay's one-page daily affirmations (It's possible to do this and catch a bus to work at the same time - we've tested it).

You may find these affirmations a helpful and effective tool to replace those "Why do bad things happen in my life?" thoughts with "Ok, that was not the best morning I've ever had, but look, amazing things are also happpening in my life. And they will continue to happen in my life today".

Jin Shin JyutsuFinding My Mojo: Jin Shin Jyutsu

Jin Shin Jyutsu is an ancient Japanese healing art based on a theory of twenty-six "safety energy locks" placed along energy pathways. Often symptoms such as migraines and allergies are a signal from our bodies that we are experiencing blockages of certain pathways.

Jin Shin Jyutsu teaches us how to hold certain combinations of the energy locks to activate our innate healing ability and restore balance to mind, body and spirit.

Whilst Jin Shin Jyutsu treatments can be given to others by experienced practitioners, the philosophy underlying this therapy form is based on self knowledge to activate self healing.

Every practitioner also has their own style and no two treatments will feel exactly the same. Last month, What Therapy met with three experienced Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioners to share their special expertise with you.

Kathy Dunderdale – Originally from the US, Kathy has lived in Europe and in Asia for many years. She started her studies of Jin Shin Jyutsu in 2000 and has spent many hours learning, teaching and giving Jin Shin Jyutsu. Kathy holds regular wokshops with one of her specialties being JSJ Mothers' Workshops. Click here to read an article on JSJ by Kathy.

Julie Gledhill – Julie's keen interest in how the human mind works led her  initially to obtain a solid grounding as a scientist specialising in Artificial Intelligence. She has since deepened her understanding of the connection between the body's subtle energies, emotions and health through meditation, practicing Emotional Freedom Technique and of course intense study of JSJ. Our editor tested her migraine treatment and can report with relief that she has had no recurring episodes since the session three weeks ago.

Toni Biehlmeier – Toni is a well-rounded practitioner who offers a unique range of healing modalities. Her philosophy is to support her clients' physical healing, establish emotional balance, facilitate spiritual growth as well as providing treatments designed to simply relax, reconnect and enjoy. Toni has used Jin Shin Jyutsu to accompany women through their birthing process, which she has found to be an especially rewarding experience.
